    ๐Ÿค Recipe Highlights

I have summarised everything that you will come to know and love (LOVE โค) about this easy oreo blondies recipe in the points below:

    • Everyday ingredients: many of the ingredients needed to make the recipe are pantry staples that you are already likely to have in the cupboard. Then you need only grab the rest so when the mood strikes to bake, you are prepared and ready!
    • Quick and easy: these blondies need only 15 minutes to bring together and then 35 minutes to cook. So in less than an hour you can have a homemade baked sweet treat that smells and tastes amazing (Ok sure, you have to cool them but the hard work is well and truly over when you get to that stage).
    • Simple: we only need one bowl, a rubber spatula and no stand mixer! This saves washing up as well as making the recipe 'too hard' for a quick morning baking session (I like to call this my therapy time ๐Ÿ˜‚).
    • Versatile: if you love a sweet treat during the day or need to take something to a bake sale or want something different for New Year, a special occasion or dessert these oreo blondies will do the trick. They are versatile and lend themselves to a wide variety of both formal and informal occasions.

    ๐Ÿฅ— Oreo Blondies Ingredients

The photo below is to show you everything you need to make the oreo blondie recipe. Please refer to the printable recipe card for specific ingredient measurements as well as the full instructions.

As you can see the recipe calls for:

    • Vanilla: vanilla extract or imitation vanilla (whichever suits your budget the best).
    • Eggs: free range of course!
    • Butter: we want to use unsalted butter. This is the primary of the 2 wet ingredients (the vanilla takes second place).
    • White sugar
    • White chocolate chips
    • Chocolate chips
    • Plain flour: one of the primary dry ingredients needed.
    • Oreo cookies: oreo cookies will be easy to get your hands on in the biscuit or cookie aisle in the supermarket. Aldi also has their own version of oreo biscuits that are cheaper than their more original counterparts.

    ๐Ÿ˜‰ Substitutions and Variations

Here are my sub ins and outs that you might be thinking about as you read the post and I will tell you if I think they will work or why they won't:

    • Oreos: if you want to use golden oreo cookies which are the vanilla flavored cookies with vanilla cream filling you can. These will turn out golden oreo blondies which will have a pale color compared to the chocolate ones, so add some dark chocolate chips for contrast (if you want to).
    • Chocolate chips: I like to use a combination of both milk chocolate chips and white chocolate chips when making this oreo blondies recipe. You can do the same or stick to your favorite. Or another idea is to use some dark chocolate chips if you prefer these.

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ How to Make Oreo Blondies

To make the oreo blondies recipe we start by lining a square baking dish (mine measures 24 cm or 9.4 inches) with 2 layers of overlapping parchment paper.

Step by step instructions to make oreo blondies with text labels on top.
Step by step instructions 1 to 4

    ๐Ÿณ Instructions

    • Line a square baking dish (Photo 1)
    • Roughly chop the oreo cookies (Photo 2)
    • Add sugar to a large bowl (Photo 3)
    • Melt the butter (Photo 4)

Next use a sharp knife and cutting board to roughly chop the oreos into pieces like you see in the photo above.

When ready then add both the brown sugar and white sugar to a mixing bowl. Then pour the melted butter over the top and stir to mix together.

Crack each egg and add them also along with the vanilla. Then give everything a good stir so that it is consistently mixed together.

    • Add the eggs and vanilla (Photo 5)
    • Add the flour (Photo 7)
    • Stir to combine (Photo 8)

    ๐Ÿช Cookies And Cream Blondies

Once the eggs and vanilla have been consistently mixed in add the flour and stir as the batter thickens. You will still be able to get it to be consistent at this point.

    • Add oreos and choc chips (Photo 9)
    • Stir to combine (Photo 10)
    • Transfer into baking dish (Photo 11)
    • Spread to form an even layer (Photo 12)

Next add the chopped oreo cookies (reserve some for the top) and chocolate chips to the batter (reserve some of these also) and stir to combine.

When ready transfer the combined oreo blondie batter into the prepared baking pan and use the spatula to spread into an even (somewhat) layer.

    Step 13
    • Add crushed oreos to top (Photo 13)

Next push the reserved oreo pieces into the top of the blondies like you see in the photo below.

Then sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top and use your finger tips to push these down slightly.

    Step 14
    • Add the chocolate chips (Photo 14)

Next place the baking tray into the preheated oven on the middle shelf and let the blondies bake for 35 minutes. The surface will be golden brown (especially at the edges) and there will be only moist crumbs when a skewer is inserted into the center.

Once the cook time is up remove the baking dish and set it on a heatproof surface. Now let the blondies cool for 20 minutes, then use the baking paper to pull the slab up and out of the baking dish.

    Step 15
    • Cool (Photo 15)

Set this on a chopping board or wire rack and let the blondies cool for a further 20 minutes (or overnight) before slicing into 16 even pieces.

    ๐Ÿฝ Serving Suggestions

When it comes to serving your oreo blondies you are either going to want to dive right in or add some vanilla ice cream, a glass of milk or whipped cream and go from there.

You can also serve the blondies chilled (they will be firmer), at room temperature or heated up.

    ๐Ÿ‘ How to Guide

    How to Store

Once the blondies have fully cooled and you have cut them into portions, transfer these to a sealed, airtight container. Use sheets of baking paper to separate the layers then place this container into the fridge.

    How to Reheat

To reheat your blondies, place them on a plate and into the microwave. Reheat using the high setting for 1-2 minutes until they are warmed through.

    ๐Ÿ’ก Tasty Tips

Here are my top tips and tricks that I want to share with you so that you master the recipe from the get go:

    • Technique: try and pour the flour directly into the middle of the mixing bowl. This will ensure it doesn't cling too much to the sides of the bowl. Also ensure that when mixing the flour is no longer visible (I lift the bowl up and look at the bottom to check).
    • Baking dish: I find using a square baking dish easiest to make blondies. This allows for 16 equal size portions when cutting from the initial large square.
    • Baking paper: we want to line the baking dish in both directions with parchment paper. We also want to have an overhang. This is so that we can lift the blondies up and out of the baking dish once cooled without having to flip the baking dish upside down.
    • Cooking oil: when lining the baking dish I like to use a little bit of cooking spray to keep the paper in place. This helps it to 'stick' so that when you are adding the batter to the dish the paper is not moving around as you do so.
    • Cool: cooling the blondies is a really important step when making them. If you pull them out of the baking dish too soon they will crack and can fall apart. So the best advice is to leave them in the baking dish for 20 minutes, then remove them from the baking dish (using the parchment paper) and let them cool for another 20 minutes before slicing. Or leave them overnight and slice them the next day for super sharp clean edges.

    ๐Ÿค“ Frequently Asked Questions

What flour do you use for blondies?

Plain, all purpose flour is used for blondies. There is also no need to sift it and it can simply be poured into mixing bowl and folded into the sugar mixture.

    Should blondies be wobbly?

No, blondies should not be wobbly. The batter is wet and often thick depending on what mix ins have been added. The best way to test if blondies are cooked is not to see if they are wobbly, rather to insert a skewer when the cook time is up and to only see a few wet crumbs on it.

Should you sift flour for blondies?

No. There is no need to sift the flour when making blondies.

What is the number one Oreo flavor?

The most popular oreo is the classic combination of a chocolate cookie with vanilla centre.

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup brown sugar
    • 1 cup white sugar
    • 250 grams/2 sticks butter unsalted, Note 1
    • 2 large eggs free range
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla
    • 2 cups plain flour no need to sift
    • 2 packets oreo cookies Note 2
    • 1 cup milk chocolate chips Note 3
    • 1 cup white chocolate chips Note 4

    Instructions

    • Preheat the oven: preheat the oven to 180ยฐC / 350-375ยฐF / Gas Mark 4-5.
    • Baking dish:ย lightly grease a square (24 x 24 cm or 9.4 inch) baking dish with cooking oil then line it with 2 overlapping sheets of baking paper with a 2-3 inch overhang on each side.
    • Sugars and butter: add both the brown sugar and white sugar to a large mixing bowl. Then transfer the butter into a heatproof jug. Microwave the butter using high heat in 30 second increments until melted. Remove the butter from the microwave, give it a gentle stir then pour into the bowl and stir until it is consistently mixed in with the sugar.
    • Flour: add the plain flour to the bowl and stir till it is no longer visible.
    • Oreos and chocolate chips: next add the chopped oreo cookies as well as the milk and white chocolate chips. Then stir gently to fold these in.

    Notes

    • Note 1 - Butter: I use unsalted butter as to not add additional salt to the recipe. I also like to melt this in the microwave to save using the stove top. I add it to a heatproof jug and use the high setting for 30 second increments till melted. Once it is, remove it with a tea towel around the (hot) handle and gently stir it before pouring it in and mixing it with the sugar. It will dissolve the sugar granules.ย
    • Note 2 - Oreo cookies: I use 2 packets of the traditional chocolate oreo cookies with vanilla centers. I then use a knife and chopping board as the recipe is so easy that I don't want to use the food processor and then have to clean that up later. Roughly chop them and save some for the top of the blondies.ย
    • Note 3 - Milk Chocolate Chips: this add the 'melty worthy' factor to the blondies. You could also use dark choc chips if you want a bolder flavor.ย
    • Note 4 - White Chocolate chips: you can reduce this to ยฝ cup if your mind is boggling at the amount of chocolate involved ๐Ÿ˜‚.
