๐Ÿค Pork Mince Stir Fry Recipe

I have summarised everything that you will come to know and love (LOVE โค) about the recipe in the points below:

    • Quick and easy: this is a weeknight friendly recipe! It is so quick and easy to put together that it is a great option if you don't want to order in but also don't want to cook for hours!
    • Everyday ingredients: you will easily be able to get your hands on everything needed to make the recipe from your local grocery store. They are each year round available ingredients and some of them might be ones that you already have.
    • Minimal prep work: the only things that we need to do before we start cooking are preparing the beans and bringing together the sauce. This has been intentional in the development of this recipe with 'quick, easy and weeknight friendly' being the main objectives.

๐Ÿฅ— Pork Mince Stir Fry Ingredients

The photo below is to show you everything you need to make this easy ground pork stir fry recipe. Please refer to the printable recipe card for specific ingredient measurements as well as detailed instructions.

As you can see the recipe calls for:

    • Peanut oil.
    • Salt and pepper.
    • Garlic: I use store bought chunky chopped garlic (most of the time) simply for convenience.
    • Ginger: as above.
    • Chinese cooking wine: adds a sweet flavor to the stir fry without the addition of separate sugar in the recipe. This is also labelled as 'Shaoxing cooking wine' in the Asian aisle of the supermarket.
    • Oyster sauce.
    • Dark soy sauce.
    • Grated carrot: I cheat with this recipe and use a bag of store bought shredded carrot. It saves time, effort and energy and fits with the need to get dinner sorted some nights without this process taking hours!
    • Green beans.
    • Pork mince.

    ๐Ÿ˜‰ Substitutions

Here are my sub ins and outs that you might be thinking about as you read the post and I will tell you if I think they will work or why they won't:

    • Oyster sauce: you can use the equivalent amount of hoisin sauce in place of the oyster sauce if you wish to.
    • Dark soy sauce: you can use regular (light) soy sauce in place of the dark soy. Only thing about this change is that the stir fry will loose a little of its golden brown colour.
    • Grated carrot: you can use shredded green or purple cabbage in place of the carrot. Or you can use a store bought 'coleslaw' pack (no dressing needed).
    • Pork mince: you can use ground beef mince, chicken mince or turkey mince in place of the pork mince.
    • Asian vegetables: you can add some sliced green onions (whilst cooking) or garnish with sliced red chilli, finely chopped spring onions (green parts) or sesame seeds if you wish to.
    • Alternative vegetables: in place of the beans and carrot some more ideas are chopped red peppers, baby spinach, bok choy, fresh coriander or basil.

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ How to Make Pork Mince Stir Fry

We start the recipe by preparing the beans and whisking together the stir fry sauce.

Step by step instructions to make pork mince stir fry with text labels on top.
Step by step instructions 1 to 4

    ๐Ÿณ Instructions

    • Chop the beans (Photo 1)
    • Whisk together the sauce (Photo 2)
    • Brown the mince (Photo 3)
    • Pour over the sauce (Photo 4)

For the sauce we simply combine the oyster sauce, Chinese cooking wine and dark soy sauce in a small bowl and whisk it till consistently combined. Set this aside for a now as we move on to the mince.

Next place a large sautรฉ pan on the stove top, turn the heat to high and add the peanut oil. Then add the garlic and cook for 1 minute. Once the garlic has softened add the pork mince, salt, black pepper and ginger. Then cook using a spatula to break up any clumps of meat till it is browned (6-7 minutes).

Once the pork is cooked through pour the sauce over the top like you see me about to do in photo 4 above.

Cooked pork mince in a large pan with green beans.
    Step 5
    • Add the beans (Photo 5)

Next add the beans to the pan like shown above and then add the carrot like shown in the photo below.

Shredded carrot and green beans with cooked pork mince in large saute pan.
    Step 6
    • Add the shredded carrot (Photo 6)

Once both the beans and carrot have been added to the sautรฉ pan, we simply stir and cook until the vegetables are cooked through. This will be very quick and only take 3-4 minutes.

๐Ÿฝ Pork Mince Stir Fry Serving Suggestions

Rice is the easy pairing for this stir fry! Steaming hot basmati rice, Jasmine rice, brown rice or white rice will work.

An alternative is serving it with a side of cooked quinoa or egg or rice noodles. Both of these options will work.

For even more protein you can add a fried egg and add that to the top of the dish when serving (you will see this idea in the Thai Minced Pork recipe).

    ๐Ÿ‘ How to Guide

    How to Store

Let the dish fully cool. Once it has you can portion it into a sealed, airtight container or multiple. These can be stacked in the fridge for 3-4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.

    How to Freeze

Simply follow the step above to portion the dish once it has cooked. See this photo for one option with small containers, big containers and a dinner already sorted once the dish has cooked (I also put the rice in the containers at this point). Then stack in the freezer.

    How to Reheat

For refrigerated leftovers, transfer these to a bowl, cover with cling wrap and reheat on high in the microwave. They will take 2-3 minutes to warm through.

For frozen portions of the dish, let these thaw during the day then follow the step above. These will take an extra minute or so to heat through.

    ๐Ÿ’ก Tasty Tips

Here are my top tips and tricks that I want to share with you so that you master the recipe from the get go:

    • Fast cooking: this is a very quick, fast to cook recipe. For that reason we want to have everything ready to go so that we simply do one step after the other.
    • Pork mince: you will see from the video that I use a long spatula to stir fry the pork mince. You don't have to use the exact same utensil as me, rather, choose one that will help break up the clumps of meat to ensure it fully browns. A wooden spoon or silicon turner will do the job also.
    • Cooking pan: I use a sautรฉ pan but a large frying pan, wok or large skillet will also work well. It only needs to be big enough to fit the quantity of ingredients and allow for a little movement.
    • Love cooking pork? Then you might like to try the Slow Cooker Coke Ribs.
    • Love stir frys? Try the Minced Beef Stir Fry or Chicken Yaki Udon.

๐Ÿค“ Pork Mince Stir Fry FAQ's

Can you use pork mince in stir-fry?

Pork mince is a great alternative to using beef mince in stir frys. It is a lighter protein and can easily be paired with a wide variety of vegetables.

How to cook pork mince properly?

The 2 main points to keep mind when cooking pork mince are to break up any clumps of the meat and to cook it till it is thoroughly browned. This will take 6-7 minutes using high heat.

What sauce goes with pork mince?

Classic Asian flavors work well with pork mince. So try either oysters sauce, hoisin sauce, soy sauce or dark soy sauce, Chinese cooking wine with aromatics like garlic, ginger and sesame oil.

    Notes

    • Note 1 - Oyster sauce: I keep this ingredient in the fridge once the bottle is open. As such it takes a little bit longer to slide out of the bottle as it is cold. So grab it out of the fridge as a starting point so that it will easily slide out and you can measure your 2 tablespoons once it has.ย
    • Note 2 - Chinese cooking wine: also known as Shaoxing wine. This adds a sweet flavor to the stir fry without having to add additional sugar.ย
    • Note 3 - Dark soy sauce: this is different to regular soy sauce. It is how we get the golden brown colour in the stir fry.ย
    • Note 4 - Pork mince: you will see that the quantity of pork mince used for the recipe is 800 grams not the standard 500 gram portion. This is correct. I do this as I am almost always making this stir fry for meal prep and this amount gives 4-6 decent adult sized servings that are 'dinner sized portions'.ย
    • Note 5 - Grated carrot: I cheat with this recipe and use a bag of store bought shredded (grated) carrot. I do this as it makes it SO easy to bring together the dish. You literally open the bag and throw the carrots into the sautรฉ pan. There is no peeling and chopping yourself and that convenience is priceless!ย
