Ingredients

  • 400 grams/14 oz milk chocolate Note 1
  • 397 grams/14 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 50 grams/1/2 stick butter unsalted
  • 12 mini mars bars fun size, share pack

Instructions

  • Slice tin: lightly grease with cooking spray then line a square tin (24cm x 5cm, 9" x 2") with 2 overlapping sheets of baking paper leaving a 1-2cm overhang on all 4 sides.
  • Mars bars: chop the mars bars into small pieces.
  • Fudge: add the chocolate, sweetened condensed milk and butter to a large heatproof container. Place it in the microwave on high for 2 minutes. Remove, stir then microwave on high for 1 further minute.
  • Combine: add the chopped mars bar pieces to the wet fudge and stir gently to cover in the fudge mixture.
  • Transfer: next transfer the wet fudge into the prepared tin, spread across the base of the tin, tap gently to remove any air bubbles and then place in the fridge.
  • To serve: remove the fudge from the fridge once set. Use the overhang to pull it up and out of the tin. Discard the paper and then slice the fudge into small evenly sized pieces.

Notes

  • Note 1 - Chocolate: cooking chocolate is always recommended over eating chocolate (Chocolate blocks, chocolate chips or chocolate melts will all work) . I used to shop at Aldi and they had 250 gram bags of chocolate chips. So I started using these when fudge making. They have now reduced the size of these bags to 200 grams. Plus I more often shop at Woolies. I have switched to using blocks of cooking chocolate (in place of either melts or chocolate chips) and have this changed to '400 grams or 2 blocks of chocolate'. I find minimal difference between the 400--500 grams. Also prefer to use '2 blocks' as opposed to 2 ½ blocks and have no immediate use for the other half a block.
  • Note 2 - Sweetened condensed milk: this is simply 1 can. I use a no name brand unless the more expensive brand is on special and find that it works very well.
  • Note 3 - Butter: unsalted is recommended. I chop this up a little before adding to the other ingredients.
  • Note 4 - Mars bars: I use a 12 pack of 'fun size' mini Mars bars. Then chop these into 4-6 pieces with a knife or kitchen scissors.
