Equipment

  • 1 Food processor to blitz the biscuits
  • 1 Large mixing bowl to combine the wet and dry ingredients
  • 1 Wooden spoon to stir and combine the wet and dry ingredients
  • 1 Cookie scoop to portion the wet mixture
  • 1 Small bowl to add the sprinkles to for decorating

Ingredients

  • 500 grams/18 oz chocolate biscuits
  • 397 grams/14 oz sweetened condensed milk Note 2
  • 1 cup chocolate sprinkles
  • ¼ cup rum

Instructions

  • Blitz the biscuits: add chocolate biscuits to the bowl of the food processor. Blitz for 15 to 20 seconds till they form a fine crumb.
  • Combine: transfer the biscuit crumb to a large mixing bowl. Pour in the sweetened condensed milk and then the rum. Use a wooden spoon to stir and combine.
  • Chill: place the mixing bowl into the fridge for 1 hour to chill.
  • Portion and roll: remove the mixing bowl from the fridge, use a mini cookie scoop to portion and roll into balls. Working 1 by 1, drop each rolled truffle into the chocolate sprinkles and roll around to coat.
  • Serve and enjoy: store the truffles in an airtight container in the fridge until ready to serve. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Note 1 - Chocolate biscuits: these are plain chocolate biscuits with no sugar or chocolate coating.
  • Note 2 - Sweetened condensed milk: this is 1 standard tin.
  • Note 3 - Rum: you can use imitation rum flavour if you like. If doing so, read the instructions on the bottle, as you will likely need closer to 1 teaspoon.
  • Note 4 - Chocolate sprinkles: you will find these in the cooking aisle with the cake decorating supplies. There is usually 2 types, one being a smaller size and the other larger sprinkles. I use the larger sprinkles type.
