Equipment

  • Mini Cookie Scoop
  • Food processor
  • Mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 42 oreo biscuits (cookies)
  • 250 grams/8 ounce block cream cheese
  • 1 ½ cups white chocolate to decorate
  • 1 ½ cups milk chocolate to decorate
  • 1 ½ cups dark chocolate to decorate
  • sprinkles Note 2

Instructions

  • Prepare a tray: line a baking tray with baking paper and set aside.
  • Crush the biscuits: add Oreo biscuits to the bowl of the food processor and blitz till a fine crumb (15 - 20 seconds).
  • Combine: add cream cheese to biscuit crumb and blitz till mixture becomes one big lump. Transfer wet mix to a large bowl.
  • Portion: use a mini cookie scoop (diameter 4 cm/1.5 inches) and scoop the mixture onto a lined baking tray.
  • Chill: place into freezer for 30 mins.
  • Melt chocolate: add white and milk chocolate to heatproof bowls, add 1 tbs olive oil to each jug and place in the Slow Cooker. Fill bowl with water up to half of the glass jugs. Set temp to low and stir occasionally till fully melted. Alternatively microwave in a heatproof jug for 30 second intervals up to 3 mins.
  • Decorate: remove Oreo balls from freezer and place next to Slow Cooker. Line up 2 small bowls of sprinkles. Use a fork to dip balls (individually into the chocolate mix, then decorate with sprinkles before placing back on tray. Repeat for each ball.
  • Store: transfer back to the fridge and store in an air tight container, consume within 5 - 7 days.

Notes

  • Note 1 - Chocolate coating: I like to use a combination of white, milk and dark chocolate to create variety across a batch of these truffles. If you prefer, you can stick to the one colour of chocolate and coat each of your balls in that choice (be it white, milk or dark chocolate).
  • Note 2 - Sprinkles: you will need approximately ½ cup of sprinkles for 30 Oreo balls. It is handy to keep in mind that this amount various in terms of how you use them to decorate the Oreo balls, ie full coverage or a little sprinkled on top.
