Snowman Chocolate Bark

Ingredients

Snowman Chocolate Bark

  • 375 grams milk chocolate melts Note 2
  • 1 280g marshmallows Note 3, white only
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 35 g mini m and m's Note 1 orange only
  • 35 g mini m and m's all colours except orange

Instructions

Snowman Chocolate Bark

  • Line a baking tray with greasproof paper 
  • Take a medium sized saucepan, fill it 1/2 with water and put a heatproof bowl on top, then set aside 
  • Toast the coconut in a fry pan at a medium till it turns a light golden brown (should be 5-10 mins). Set aside 
  • Open your marshmallow bag and separate the white from the pink ones 
  • Open the tube of m and m's and seperate the orange ones from the rest of the colours 
  • Lay out your marshmallows ensuring you have a head and body for each snowman 
  • Use a small sharp knife to cut a little slit (vertically) in the marshmallow and stick an orange m and m in for the nose. Repeat till each snowman has a nose 
  • In a small microwave safe container melt 1/4 cup of the chocolate melts for 30 seconds at a time, stir with a skewer to ensure is melted and mixed through Note 3
  • Use a cotton tip and give each snowman 2 eyes and 3 buttons, repeat till all are done 
  • Cut the sour straps into long thin lengths
  • Melt 1/4 more of the chocolate melts and use this to secure the ear muff straps, repeat till all are done 
  • Stick a mini m and m onto each side of the snowmen's head to complete the ear muffs 
  • Melt remaining chocolate in the heatproof bowl on the stove Note 4
  • Work quickly to then pour this into your prepared tray
  • Add the snowmen to the melted chocolate one by one and give them a scarf as you go, by sticking either end in the melted chocolate 
  • Sprinkle with toasted coconut and place in the fridge for at least 1 hour to set. 

Notes

  • Note 1 You need 1 35g tube of mini m and m's. Orange are for the noses and other colours for the ear muffs.
  • Note 2 You can use dark chocolate if you prefer, but I would not recommend using white for this recipe as there would not be enough contrast between the white marshmallow and the chocolate 
  • Note 3 I could not find 'white only' marshmallows, so bought the pink and white bag and will use the pink ones for another recipe eg Rocky Road
  • Note 4 I actually find melting chocolate in the microwave more difficult than on the stove. Plus you loose the therapy. In the microwave you have less control over it and can't see it changing form, so use this option if you are confident you won't over melt it (from which you can rarely recover) otherwise, I recommend doing it on the stove top (Except for the eyes and buttons) as you only need a small amount for that and that part is easier done in the microwave as less 'ruined' chocolate if things go awry.
