Once the granola is cooked, you can remove the lid, turn the heat off and transfer it to a baking tray so it can cool.

This is the fun part as you can play around with storing your homemade granola in jars, or zip lock bags, whichever is easiest for grabbing in the mornings.

Try it once with the listed ingredients and then mix it up a bit and use different nuts, fruits and seeds!

BEST EVER Slow cooked crockpot granola

Is it really granola if there is no crunch to it? Nope, I don’t think so either.

The slow cooking of this recipe makes the ingredients so crunchy and toasted that each mouthful will literally crumble in your mouth!

The dates are such a great granola ingredient as they are quite big and have a different texture and taste to the other ingredients!

Notes

  • Note 1 If your coconut oil is melted already, add it to the Slow Cooker bowl and still heat the oil for a couple of mins before adding the rest of the ingredients. My oil is often solid, so I add it to the bowl, turn the temperature to high, let it melt/heat and then start adding the ingredients. This allows the full surface of the bowl to have a thin layer of coconut oil so the flavour of the granola is consistent as well (as opposed to adding it all at the same time and having the oil only be mixed into parts of the granola mix).
  • Note 2 When Slow Cooking I use with a wooden spoon or a silicon spoon to avoid scratching the surfaces of the Slow Cooker bowl.
  • Note 3 If the lid is fully 'on' the Slow Cooker properly then the environment will be too moist to get the dryness we need when cooking granola. Skewing the lid allows us to get this dryness as it is not enclosed to the same degree.
