So let me guide you through some options to make your puff pastry tart come together, wow your guests and tickle your taste buds. LET"S GO!!
Using Puff Pastry as the base for a Tart
The essence of making a delicious puff pastry tart is ensuring that your pastry is cooked well. We want to achieve the following for the perfect tart:
- pastry that is cooked all the way through
- a light golden colour
- flaky, buttery pastry, that has a sound when bitten into
- a nice flat appearance, ready for delicious toppings.
You are unlimited when it comes to using your imagination to create puff pastry tart recipes once you know the basic steps!
We can achieve perfectly cooked puff pastry in 5 simple steps. You don't even need a tart tin for these recipes, a simple flat baking tray works perfectly, every time!
The pastry only needs to be in the oven for 15 minutes to cook (20 if it is still quite frozen). I usually have it on a baking tray for the 1st 10 minutes and then slide it onto an oven tack for the remaining 5 -10 minutes (cook following this instruction: Preheat your oven to 180 degrees F 82.2 degrees C. Line a baking tray with paper, place pastry on top)
With puff pastry, some interesting ingredients for toppings and a bit of imagination, there is no limit to the delectable desserts or savoury tarts you can create!
This is an ingredient you can have fun with. There is nothing overly complex about the steps involved and you can be as creative as you like for your tart toppings.
Vegan option
I am going to let you in on a little secret here. You can get VEGAN puff pastry at the grocery store! Yes, it is so easy to find and ticks a lot of boxes for vegans. Keep your eyes peeled for it and use coconut cream if you would like to make your tarts vegan!!

Therapy time
Did you see when I typed above....DRIZZZLED MELTED CHOCOLATE, mmm hmmm. Yes, that is right. We melt our chocolate in the microwave and then take a fork and swing it back and forth over the tart to make a beautiful chocolate layer! I am telling you, doing this is MUCH cheaper than therapy and this task makes me feel oh so rejuvenated!!
Take a fork, dip it in the melted chocolate and swing it back and forth over the tart, you will enjoy this step!
